Create a home for your ideas
A universal wishlist is a list that can hold gifts from different shops. It is useful when you want one retailer’s clothes, another shop’s homeware and an experience that is not sold online. The list organises your ideas; each retailer still handles its own orders.
Create a free GotMyEyeOn account to get your first wishlist, or select New wishlist on your dashboard for another occasion. Give each list a clear name. You can make separate birthday, Christmas and wedding lists and share only the one that is relevant.
Add a product link
- Open the product’s page at the shop and copy its web address.
- Open your wishlist and choose Add a wish.
- Paste the address into Product link and choose Find details.
- Review the returned product information before saving.
Use the individual product page rather than a search result, basket or checkout link. Product pages usually give a clearer description of the thing you want. Never add links containing private order information.
Automatic lookup can fill in details such as a title, photo and price when the shop makes them available. It is worth checking each field: a retailer might show a starting price or an image for a different version.
Choose the right version
On the options step, choose the size, colour or other preferences the product needs. Available choices depend on the information the shop provides. A single available option is selected automatically, but you should still check it matches what you want.
If an option is missing, add the preference yourself. Use a note for details such as a personalised engraving or a compatible model. The Advanced section lets you correct the title, image and price. Saving a preference on the wishlist does not select it in a retailer’s checkout; the buyer must check the options there too.
When automatic lookup needs a hand
Some shops block remote requests or load their product choices only after the page opens. That can leave an automatic lookup incomplete. You can still keep the wish: enter the missing details in Advanced, or use our Chrome extension from the product page open in desktop Chrome.
Follow the browser tool’s setup instructions, open the item at the shop, choose your preferences and save it to GotMyEyeOn. Review the details again before adding the wish. Browser capture can help with information visible on the page, but it cannot guarantee that every retailer exposes every option.
For an idea without a product page, choose the option to add without a link. Give it a title and explain it in a note. A price and picture are optional.
Organise and share your list
Mark favourites, add categories or reorder wishes to make a longer list easier to browse. Check that it contains current ideas and enough information for someone else to choose the right thing.
Use Share wishlist to send one link. The same link stays up to date after edits, and guests can reserve gifts to help avoid duplicates. Purchases, delivery and returns take place with the individual shops.
