How to make a Christmas wishlist

A useful Christmas list gives people a few ideas and enough detail to choose the right thing. Here’s how to put yours together, share it once and keep it up to date.

Start with a list for this Christmas

Create a free account, then open your first wishlist. If you already have an account, choose New wishlist on your dashboard. Give the list a name you will recognise, such as “Christmas wishes”, and choose Christmas as its occasion in Settings. A separate list keeps these ideas apart from birthdays or things you are saving for yourself.

You can collect wishes privately while you decide what to include. There is no need to finish the whole list in one sitting: add something whenever it catches your eye, then review the list before you share it. Our Christmas wishlist maker lets you keep links from different retailers together.

Add the details that matter

Choose Add a wish, paste a product link and select Find details. Check the product name, image and price that come back. On the next step, choose any available options and add a missing preference yourself if necessary. A specific clothing size, colour or edition is much more useful than leaving someone to guess.

The Advanced section lets you edit the title, price, image, category and note. A wish can also be an experience or something handmade: use the option to add it without a link and describe what you have in mind. You can mark a favourite with “I’d really love this one”.

Include ideas at a few different prices if you can. That gives people room to choose what feels comfortable. A larger wish is an idea, not an expectation that someone must buy it.

Share one link with your family

When you are ready, check your list’s visibility in Settings. “Only me” keeps it private. “People with the link” lets recipients open it, so send that link only to people you want to share it with. They can forward it, too.

Open Share wishlist and copy the link, or choose WhatsApp or email. Guests can browse a shared list and reserve an available gift without creating an account. You need an account to create and manage your own list.

Keep the introduction friendly. If you need a starting point, use one of our Christmas wishlist messages. The link continues to open your latest list when you edit an item or add another idea.

Keep the surprise

Leave “Friends can reserve this gift” enabled on wishes you want people to coordinate. Other visitors can then see which gifts have been chosen. Reservation status stays hidden from you and your co-admins unless you enable Spoiler mode.

A reservation does not buy anything or hold stock at a shop. Your friend still needs to visit the retailer, check the selected version and arrange delivery. They can read our gift reservation guide if they are using the list for the first time.

Give your list a final check

  • Remove anything you have already bought or no longer want.
  • Check that product links still open the right item.
  • Include sizes, colours and any important notes.
  • Make sure your visibility setting allows your guests to open the list.
  • Check delivery dates at the retailer; the wishlist cannot guarantee Christmas delivery.

If something sells out, add an alternative and update the original wish. Everyone using the same shared link will see your changes.
